There is a good reason why Mauritius is a leading destination for honeymoons, especially for Indians. The proximity helps, but those emerald coloured sea waters and you with your beloved on a tiny island is truly a great place to unwind after your wedding and get to know your spouse better. For us, honeymoon in Mauritius was a no-brainer.
After a lot of research, we decided to stay at the Villas Mon Plaisir hotel on our honeymoon in Mauritius. Located north west coast of Mauritius, Villas Mon Plaisir is a great hotel for couples. There is a private beach attached to the hotel where you have a few activities.
Here are some of the activities/things we did on our honeymoon in Mauritus
The glass bottom boat tour lasts between an hour or two. You sit comfortably on the boat while the centre of the boat has a glass bottom peering in to the beautiful waters of the Indian ocean. It’s a great way to introduce yourself to the wonderful flora and fauna of the ocean.
If I could put this in corporate terms, this is a great team building exercise for a couple. The two of you are against the ocean, if you learn to stick together it’ll be easier to deal with the situation. We had a lot of fun kayaking, we would highly recommend it.
North Mauritius Tour
The North Mauritius Tour is a day tour mainly revolves around the sites around the capital of Port Louis. You get a tour of the capital city with all its bazaars and shopping areas, the highlight of which is the upmarket Caudan Waterfront. The visit to sugar museum also gave us a good perspective of the history of Mauritius.
South Mauritius Tour
The South Mauritius Tour is again a day tour and it showcases the natural beauty of Mauritius. The tour takes us to the beautiful Chamarel village which has the seven coloured earth – a beautiful amalgamation of different coloured sands. There are lots of sites around the Chamarel village including the gorgeous Alexandra waterfalls. We also visited the Mangal Mahadev temple which has a giant statue of Lord Shiva.
Ile Aux Cerfs Tour
Ile Aux Cerfs is an island off the east coast of Mauritius which is a great tourist destination. It has some great beaches and a beautiful lagoon too. It’s a very relaxing trip where you get great views while you are sailing on the ocean. Lunch is served on board and you can give swimming or snorkelling a shot.
A common complaint against Mauritius is there is not much to do there on your honeymoon, but we would beg to differ. We had a great time exploring Mauritius and all that it has to offer.
All in all, thanks to iTraveller we had a great time on our honeymoon in Mauritius. We had a contact person from the beginning to the end of the person who was more than willing to help us with any problems/issues we had. Thanks iTraveller!
