For a night you will never forget, DO NOT miss the Full Moon Party at Thailand. Psychedelic trance, drum & bass, R&B, house, dance, and reggae music pummels the air to give the thrills like no other party in the world.
Where exactly is the Thailand Full Moon Party held?
For the best night of your life, head to the party island of Koh Phangan. Located 12-kilometers north from the famous Koh Samui and 45-kilometres from the diver’s paradise of Koh Tao, Koh Phangan goes utterly crazy in its vibes during the Full Moon Party. This island has a small town named Haad Rin on its southernmost tip.
Haad Rin is divided into two different parts
- Haad Rin Nok: This has the Sunrise Beach, and this is where Thailand’s Full Moon Party goes wild. Koh Phangan’s reputation stems right from here.
- Haad Rin Nai: This has the Sunset Beach and is a more relaxed and tamer part of the island.
A chunk of history
The first Full Moon Party dates back to 1983 held at Paradise Bungalows on the beach to thank around 20-30 travellers. Soon, its fame spread far and wide through word of mouth and online resources. This party now attracts 10,000 – 30,000 people every evening of a full moon.

Things to be careful about when going for Thailand Full Moon Party
The whole of South-east Asia has rampant methanol poisoning, which gives room for enormous quantities of fake alcohol. This will have the same look, taste, and smell as real alcohol, but methanol can severely impact your health. The most successful way of avoiding fake alcohol at the party is to buy your liquor from the 7-11’s of Haad Rin.
Always keep a watch for unusual symptoms such as a severe headache, trembling, blurry vision, struggled breathing or others.
Glass on the beach
Quite obviously, at a party as crazy as this, you are sure to find broken bottles strewn on the sand. Shattered glass is a common sight, and it is suggested for you to wear footwear that will protect you even in contact with the sharp edges.
A gigantic slide is located right in the middle of the party’s drunken madness. Make sure not to experiment it when you are too intoxicated because chances are; you might fall off and hit the sand. Nobody wants a leg break during a party!
While you leave your clothes on the sand and are having a good time, chances are that somebody might rob you. There are barely any bathrooms in the vicinity of the Thailand Full Moon Party and the thousands of people find it convenient to use the beach for their needs. Skinny dipping does not seem too appealing now, does it?
