Being a resident of Dubai, Travelling to Europe for vacation is an escape from hot. It’s something everyone aspires to and so having it go smoothly is imperative and more so, since we were travelling with my kid. With all this in mind, we set out really excited about our Paris-Switzerland holiday package from Dubai.
Day 1- Paris
We arrived in Paris on 24th August noon & stayed at De Clichy district and evening enjoyed walk around of De Clichy which is on the riverside. And our trip effectively started on the 25th. We decided to take the Paris city tour bus which took us to all the great attractions of Paris – Notre Dame Cathedral, Louvre Museum, Orsay Museum among the top few. It is also a great way to get to know the city better and get a feel for the city.
The tour also included Paris’ symbol the Eiffel tower which was easily the highlight of the day for us. Getting to the top of the Eiffel tower and seeing the city from such a vantage point was a sight to behold. I would also recommend taking the “skip the line” ticket we took for the Eiffel Tower.
In the evening, we went on the Seine river cruise. Paris lit up is something else, it truly is a wonder watching the City of Love as we sailed past the lovely monuments like Notre Dame.
Day 2: Paris Disneyland
We thought we would set aside one day just for the kid so he could completely enjoy Disneyland. Disneyland is well connected by the Paris metro and getting here is hassle-free. We thought our son would have fun – he had a blast and so did we. It was great fun reliving our childhood – watching all the characters we had seen growing up come to life.
There are tons of rides for kids of all ages, I would even recommend some of the roller coaster rides for adults. Make sure you catch the parade that happens twice a day, your kid will surely enjoy it.
Day 3: Paris to Interlaken – Switzerland Holiday Package
The next day was the travel from Paris to Interlaken. It was a long but very comfortable train ride. I would also recommend the Swiss Train Pass, which makes travelling in Switzerland hassle free. We had a lovely hotel at a great location overlooking the Alps. Interlaken was a small town & beautiful town & it would be perfect a young couples…. Of course! Being there any couple will feel younger, the town will make fall in love again!
Day 4: Jungfraujoch
We were heading to the Top of Europe! Standing at a majestic 3466m above sea level, Jungfraujoch is truly the top of Europe. We were also very excited to see and play with snow!
We took the train from Interlaken to Grindelwald. The journey was beautiful! Staring out of the window, each frame looks like a wallpaper that could adorn your desktop. From Grindelwald to Jungfraujoch, is the cog wheel train. It’s a very interesting set up which is common around this region. The train does not go around the mountain but heads straight up due to the special system. Again, a lovely train journey.
Once, we reached the top we went through the ice palace, which is located at the heart of the glacier. When we stepped out in the open, we were stunned by the views. Standing amidst the Alps, with snow all around, it was pure majesty and purity of nature – a very humbling experience. My son was very excited to see and play in the snow, making the whole journey completely worth it.
It gets really cold here, so make sure a lot of warm clothes and food to eat especially for the little one.
Day 5: Interlaken to Lucerne
Lucerne is called the gateway to Switzerland. It’s a beautiful town with the panoramas of the mountains to boast and a very pretty lake at the heart of the town. It also great shops along the lake which boast of the best Switzerland has to offer – watches and chocolates!
Having Swiss was a great advantage, we tried Mt.Pilatus from Lucern during rest of the day which was beautiful trip starting in a cruise to Alphanastach & from there you will be taken to the top of Mt.Pilatus on worlds steepest Cogwheel train & return on the other side of the mountain through Rope car. (Gondolas)… You would love the trip!!!
Day 6: Mt. Titlis
One might argue that if you’ve seen one mountain in Switzerland why would you do another one! One might argue that until they’ve been to Mt. Titlis. I wish I could say that you could get enough of the views visiting Jungfraujoch, but we wanted more even after going to Mt. Titlis.
There is the cable car ride which takes you close to the glacier, the hanging bridge which puts you at a height staring down to the bottom of the valley, there are tons of activities for you to do and explore here to make your visit truly memorable.
Day7: We head back
All good things come to an end! But this was an epic trip for us! Sadly, this was the end of our trip and reached City Zurich & enjoyed a city tour on the bus as our flight late evening. We saw the best of what Europe had to offer from the culture to nature. Our senses were overwhelmed and batteries recharged!
It would be remiss of me if I didn’t thank iTraveller for their execution and support on this trip. Although had many overseas trips in the past to various parts of the world including Europe, this was my first time booked through a travel agent as a private itinerary for my family, I must say they exceeded my expectations on all fronts. The hotels and activities they suggested were great and within budget and were always prompt with their support despite being on a different time zone. It was Airport to Airport Management from their side, so all I could focus on is enjoying with my family.
Go for it!
