New Zealand, the land of the warrior princess Xena and a country where everywhere you gaze, you find a treasure trove of surreal beauty. For nature lovers, spending a mere ten days in this beautiful Island is just not enough to soak in its magnificence, but then come back they must to their homes. Here is a New Zealand itinerary 10 days, which will make you explore the country in such a way that you do not miss out on its heavenly charm at all.
Day 1: Auckland
Auckland in the North Islands is the starting point of this journey and from here, drive down to the Bay of Islands for burying your toes in some golden sand and watching the dolphin pods. After a thrilling day, enjoy the evenings in Auckland over a sumptuous meal and do visit the Sky Towers.
Day 2: Matamata- Rotorua
The charm of the Hobbits will pull you to Matamata, where you can visit the Hobbiton movie sets and the shoot locations of the Lord of the Rings movie trilogy. The evenings are best spent soaking in the geothermal hot springs of Rotorua and watching a Maori cultural show and Kuirau Park.
Day 3: Taupo
Taupo may be small in size but big in terms of the adventure that it packs in. You can do bungee jumping over Waikato River, trout fishing or sailing through the fjords while watching the Maori Rock Carvings.
Day 4: Napier
Another small wonder of New Zealand, the town of Napier is known for two things; its history and its fabulous wine. The marvelous architecture is a feast for the eyes and for a feast of the palate, you can explore the vineyards and wineries.
Day 5: Wellington
The capital of New Zealand Wellington is your next halt after Napier. Highlights of the city include Te Papa Museum, Botanic Garden, Courtenay Place, and Cuba Street.

The Picton ferry will take you to Marlborough Sounds where the foliage covered mountains keep you transfixed for a while. You can then head to Christchurch, which is the hub of the South Islands and has attractions like the Canterbury Museum and the Botanic gardens.
Day7: Christchurch to Mt. Cook
The mesmerizing drive to Mt. Cook takes you through a mélange of blue and white given by the snow-peaked mountains if you decide to explore New Zealand in December, one of the best times, and turquoise lakes. Mt.Cook is the highest peak of New Zealand and a slight detour for it is well worth the trouble.

Day 9: Franz Joseph
Keep this day for a helicopter ride to the Franz Josef Glacier and from there head onto Greymouth.
