Your journey for your Gangtok Lachen Lachung tour package will start from the North Sikkim Gangtok cab station. You will have to book your travel at least a couple of days in advance. The road is treacherous and so you will have to hire a 4-wheel drive with an experienced driver. The nature and the scenic beauty on the way makes up for the difficult journey. Make sure you are carrying a valid photo ID and 2 passport photos before heading out to North Sikkim. North Sikkim being very close to the China border is under the Indian Army’s purview and the security is tight around these areas.
Lachen is your base location before you can proceed to Gurudongmar Lake. Having left Gangtok early in the morning, you will reach Lachen late in the evening. Most places to stay in Lachen are simple and rustic bed and breakfasts.
You will again head out for Gurudongmar early in the morning. Its again a long drive with only one stop for Maggi and tea on the way. Through your journey through the Himalayas you will notice the vegetation slowly turning from coniferous trees to the dry and arid cold desert.
Gurudongmar Lake is situated at a height of 17,800 feet above sea level and is a pristine oasis in this cold desert. It is a holy spot for Hindus, Sikhs and Budhists. You can enjoy beautiful panoramic views of the Himalayas.
After a sumptuous lunch, you will head to your next stop on your North Sikkim Budget Tour package - Lachung. Lachung is your base to head to the beautiful Yumthang valley. Lachung itself is a pretty village that you explore through a lovely walk.
You will head to Yumthang valley next morning. Yumthang valley is also known as the valley of flowers and is famous for the rhododendrons, which cover the entire valley. The valley offers gorgeous views of snow-capped mountains, meadows where you will find yaks grazing and also a tiny stream of water which makes this absolutely picture perfect.
