Day 1: Auckland
Most International flights arrive at Auckland and that is why all New Zealand tours begin here. You can visit the Sky Tower, trek up Mt. Eden or do something as simple as taking a bike and riding along the waterfront.
Day 2: Waiheke Island and Hauraki Gulf
The morning ferry from downtown Auckland will take you to Waiheke Island, which is a must-see for all tourists. You can spend the day hopping from wineries to cafes to restaurants, all offering splendid delights. There is also a dolphin and whale cruise on the Hauraki Gulf which is a highlight of the Island. You should reach your next stop Taupo by nightfall so as to make the maximum of your next day.
Day 3: Tongariro Alpine Crossing
An early morning shuttle will take you to this amazing eight-hour hike, where the trail is dotted with breathtaking scenery. Wetlands, volcanoes, bushes, and snow if you are there in the winters, will give you innumerable spots to flood your Instagram account. Once back, you can enjoy a soak in the local hot water springs of Taupo.
Day 4: Christchurch
You will need to go back to Auckland to catch your flight to Christchurch, where a four-hour thrilling drive will land you at the Southern Alps, home to Aoraki/Mt Cook National Park.
Day 5: Queenstown
From Mt. Cook National Park, a short hike will take you to Kea Point from where you can drive down to Queenstown. The countryside is resplendent with wildflowers in the period between September and November, making you go on a non-stop picture clicking spree.
Day 6: Milford Sound
Your trip to New Zealand cannot be complete without a trip to Milford Sound, which is a haven for nature photographers. Milford Sound is a fjord, as the valleys here have been carved out by glaciers and not rivers which create most fjords. If you really want to take in every bit of the gorgeous scenery then, take a flight from Queenstown to Milford Sound and go for a boat cruise to see the seals and dolphins frolicking in the icy water.
Day 7: Queenstown again
Make the most of your last day in New Zealand by pumping some adrenaline at Queenstown and take your pick from bungee jumping, skydiving, and jet boating. Well, you can pick all of them if you are game for it. Queenstown is well connected to Auckland, from where you can take your flight back home after a spectacular holiday.
