Must visit places in Kovalam
Kovalam boasts of a long stretch of beach, consisting of a 17 km long coastline. This coastline is divided into three beaches, which forms the famous crescent of the Kovalam beaches. The three beaches are:
1. Lighthouse beach
This is the largest of the three beaches and is located in the southern most area of Kovalam. The old Vizhinjam lighthouse located on a 35 meter high on top of the Kurumkal hillock gave the beach its name.
2. Hawah beach
This is the beach primarily used by fishermen for setting out sail intended for fishing activities. This beach is also known as the first topless beach in India. But, nowadays, topless bathing is banned except in private coves owned by some resorts.
3. Samudra beach
This beach is separated from the southern side by a large promontory. This beach is usually used by the fishermen for trading activities.
The Kovalam coastline has shallow waters stretching for hundreds of meters which makes it ideal for swimming activities. Hence, tourists usually fall in love with this place after visiting. The beaches have palm covered headlands that are steep and are lined up with shops that sell all kinds of goods and services.

4. Neyyar dam
The Neyyar Dam is a gravity dam built on the Neyyar river in the Thiruvananthapuram district of Kerala, and the Aruvikkara Damis the dam which provides water to the state capital, Thiruvananthapuram. It is famous for the ancient Bhagavathi temple.
5. Parasuram temple
The Thiruvallam Parasurama temple is a 2000-year old temple, situated at the merging of 3 rivers (Triveni Sangam), namely, Karamana River, Killi River, and Parvathiputhanar River, and theVizhinjam Rock-cut cave Temple is an ancient temple. It dates to back to 8th century. There are rock-cut sculptures of the 18th century in this temple.
