If you want to explore the wonders of the ocean from up close, put on your gear and head under to one of the many dive sites in Mauritius. Some of the best dive sites are Grand Baie and Belle Mare
Snorkelling is a great low frill way to explore the marine diversity of Mauritius. Get up close with the corals, angelfish and other marine creatures. Blue Bay Marine Park and Tamarin bay are great places to go snorkelling
This is the easily the most chilled out hassle-free way to explore the waters. Fitted with the headgear, you don’t even need to know swimming to enjoy the splendours of the ocean. You could try underwater sea walking at Trou d’eau Douce and Port Louis. You could also try the underwater scooter at Trou aux Biches.
The friendliest underwater creatures and the largest creatures on mother earth make an early morning start worth it. You’ll see pods of dolphins and sperm whales if you are lucky you could spot humpback whales between July to November. Tamarin Bay is where you should head to spot these creatures. The boat ride usually takes around three hours.
Kayaking is a great way to explore the basalt rock formations and caves at Pointe Aux Sable. You can get a single kayak or a double kayak. Test your upper body strength to see the cliffs that have stood the test of time. October is the best time to try this out.
If you want to just put your feet up and relax while the gorgeous boat and the winds do all the work, then you should definitely try sailing to the Ile aux Cerfs Island. Enjoy the views of the ocean and the lagoon to completely relax. You will be served lunch on board and can try swimming and snorkelling on the lovely beach on the island.
