Read more about Neil Island

Like Havelock, the vast majority of settlers at Neill were refugees from erstwhile Bangladesh, following the exodus of Hindu Bangladeshis prior to that country's war of independence in 1971. When compared to Havelock Island, Neil is quite small. Its widest part is just 5 km in length. One can finish taking a walk around this place within a couple of hours. Neil Island is often referred to as the Vegetable bowl of Andaman, due to the farming practices that take place here.

It is the go-to place in Andaman for tourists who are looking for some quiet and relaxing time after a hectic schedule of fun activities. With unexplored coral reefs, brilliant bio-diversity, white sandy beaches and tropical forest and vegetation, it is one of the best tourist spots in the Andaman. The settlers named the beaches after mythical characters of the epic Ramayana. Bharatpur beach has some coral reefs teeming with tropical fish. Laxman beach is known for its sunset views. Howrah bridge is a natural rock formation accessible at low tides.

Sitapur, Ramnagar are some more beaches that are popular among tourists. One should definitely take part in adventure activities like Scuba diving in Jetty area and Laxmanpur Beach-I. Swimming and Snorkeling can be experienced at the beaches of Sitapur, while Cycling, Glass Bottom Boating, and Game Fishing are some of the prominent things to do in Neil Island. The immaculate Neil Island is bestowed with an exquisite backdrop, which makes it just the right place for a holiday.
